Mrs Audrey Hughes

Audrey Hughes is the Patient Involvement and Engagement Office for the Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Charity UK and helps ensure that patients and the public are represented in research.

She has many years of patient involvement and engagement through volunteering and work with the PKD Charity, patient associations and more recently through representation in research programmes and advisory groups in the UK. These include CILIAREN, TheRaCil and more recently the PKD Partnership.

Audrey is also an ADPKD patient with firsthand knowledge of the disease’s impact, having seen her mother endure long-term dialysis and her brother undergo a double nephrectomy, dialysis and transplant. She also has experience of how those closest to an ADPKD patient are affected.
