Philip Beales researches the causes and treatment of rare diseases at University College London, and has discovered more than 40 disease-related genes. His main focus is the ciliopathies, which he has helped to characterise clinically and molecularly, including the first gene discoveries for Bardet-Biedl syndrome and Jeune syndrome.
